Mushrooms have been used as medicinal products for centuries, first documented in Europe by Dioscorides in 55AD, however, it was the Chinese who explored their benefits much more comprehensively around 200AD.
Clinical trials of commercial mushroom extracts have been particularly associated with cancer and were first researched in 1976 for Stage IV stomach cancer using Trametes versicolor (turkeytail). There have been numerous studies since and a quick search on Google Scholar reveals hundreds of trials including extended survival with breast cancer, colorectal cancer and lung cancer (NSCLC) patients.

The mushrooms prescribed are both completely safe and legal in the UK and have been used for centuries as well as researched through modern science. These are not “magic mushrooms” and will not induce any psychotropic episodes.
